Back or Front?
Vortex as well as making scopes also offers some serious mounts, here’s a great one for you AR15ers!
QD scope mounts certainly have their uses, no more so than on a multi sight platform such as the AR15, which in the UK means both 22 rimfire semi-autos as well as centrefire straight-pulls. Recently we looked at a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 compact, which came in the Vortex ADR-X Cantilever QR Mount system.
The ADR-X Mount features a 3” off-set on the one-piece base, which allows you to mount your optic well forward on a 4-way forend and still get proper eye relief. Conversely on a shorter receiver rail you can reverse it and still get a forward position that copes with eye relief.
These mounts are aimed at scopes with an average of a four inch eye relief. Attachment is by the Vortex Auto Lock system with swing-over (180°) latches with separate, integral locking levers. They are width-adjustable by rotatable cross bolts to allow a firm mount and can be turned through 90° at a time. These are square in section so act as recoil stops. The rings are vertically split like a Warne and clamp by four screws and a locating pin in each base. Vortex only offers this set up for 30mm body tubes. There is also a standard ADR unit with a two inch off-set, but the price difference is minimal!
The Vortex Cantilever QR Mount system is priced at £178 while the standard ADR unit is £170. For more information contact Riflecraft Ltd, 01379 853745
