Crelant 7G2-C LED Flashlight

Crelant 7G2-C LED Flashlight

Inovatech have become a bit of a household name with shooters as they bring in some good lighting systems. I have one of their Tiablo A10Gs, which I use as a gun torch and have no complaints. Whilst at the British Shooting Show they showed me a new brand called Crelant and gave me one to test.

Utility and Gun Light

story continues below...

Called the 7G2-C it’s a medium/compact design weighing 3.8oz (less batteries) with a nominal, 1” diameter it’s 5 ¼” long. The lens is toughened, ultra-clear, coated and anti-abrasion glass. Typically the body is black anodised with knurling and longitudinal slots for grip, operation is by a push-button, tail cap switch that offers click-on/touch-on control. The rotary head sections allow you to select operating modes and is shaped not to roll. Overall this is a well sized and practical design that, as I discovered, does double duty as a utility torch or even short range gun light.
There are two modes of operation that give four options. With the head screwed down (mode A, tactical) you are on high beam only (320-Lumen). Backing this off about 1/8-turn (mode B) gives strobe (15-Lumen), mid (60-Lumen) and high (320-Lumen), which is cycled through by pressing/releasing the tail switch. Like more and more modern torches the Crelant offers the choice of power options, as it will run on either 2 x CR123 Alkaline, disposable cells or a single, re-chargeable 18650 Li-ion battery.

Rechargeables Best

Run times differ as follows: 2 x CR123 batteries – mode A - 90 mins, mode B - strobe 27 hours and mid 16 hours. With the re-chargeable it goes up to - mode A - 2 hours, mode B - strobe 36 hours and mid 18 hours. With a reasonably long and tapered aluminium reflector the 7G2-C uses a CREE XP-G R5 bin LED with a quoted, 50 000 hour life. It’s amazing how far hand torches have come in terms of ability and performance in what seems a relatively short time.
On that point, at high power the Crelant makes for an effective and pleasingly compact airgun/22 rimfire gun light. Pushing out the full 320-Lumen you get 50-yards plus with ease, which is easy to shoot by.
Slightly different is the 7G2-N that offers a bright and neutral white beam for applications needing colour precision with the ability to penetrate fog and smoke. The spec is the same though the maximum Lumen is 300 with an 80-105 minute run time at that setting given the power source. Of the two I prefer the C-version for the extra power and brightness offered.
