Whitwick Militaria Fair

  • Sunday Nov 25th saw the launch of the first Whitwick Militaria Fair. Held at the Hermitage Leisure centre in Whitwick, (NW Leicestershire in the Midlands) the fair proved to be very popular with both dealers and public alike . At 9am the queuing began and when the doors opened at 10am the queue was out the building and well into the carpark!

  • There was a great variety of stock on offer. Items of particular note were:

  • A stunning 5th TA battalion ROYAL LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT Drum with the last battle honour on it dated 1918. Sold immediately to a local collector. A group of 1871 Prussian bayonets. Ribbed brass grips with brass mounted leather scabbards in both standard and dress models with sawback versions. The sawback bayonet having a beautifully etched blade. Prices ranged from £180 - £340.

  • A superb original and untouched "sleeper" WWII German Luftwaffe helmet with perfect decal, liner and chin strap. This helmet had been loft stored for over 6 decades having been brought back as a "souvenir". Priced at £550 - it sold within minutes of the fair opening.

  • Victorian Fourth Lancashire Artillery Volunteers Cavalry Officers Dress Sabretache. Silver braid edging to the front and morocco leather to the reverse. Offered for sale at £580.

  • A wonderful example of the 12mm large frame single action Lefaucheux pinfire revolver, model M1854 , military model - sold for £500.

  • Feedback from both the public and the dealers was very positive. Just minutes from both the M1 and the M42 the venue is ideally located. Facilities for visitors are great with free parking and a cafe. For dealers - flat unloading ,free parking and guaranteed space in front of your stall to pop your own table to maximise selling space.

  • There are 3 fairs planned for 2019 with the first being held on Sunday April 14th . Doors open 10 til 2 and admission is £3.50.

  • On SUN JAN 6th Norfolk Fairs will host the first Thetford Militaria Fair of 2019. Now in its 7th year this very well attended fair offers around 130 plus tables of quality militaria. Doors open 10 til 2 and admission is £3.
