North Wales Police move towards faster licensing

  • NORTH WALES POLICE have taken steps to make their firearms licensing system quicker and easier for applicants by implementing a new online payment facility. Applicants will be able to pay for their firearm/shotgun grants and renewals online using their debit or credit cards. The new system, which is available now, allows applicants to pay directly from their e-mail account which means payments and refunds can be processed in a more timely manner and potential hold ups in the licensing process should be reduced. This decision by North Wales follows the introduction by Lincolnshire Police of a new online digital platform for processing firearms applications. Paul Dale, BASC's head of firearms, said: “We welcome the implementation of any new processes which makes things easier for applicants and we hope this is just the first step for North Wales taking more of their licensing system online. “After a lot of criticism in recent years, many forces are currently working on plans to make the whole licensing system quicker and easier for applicants.”
