Cannae Legion Day Pack

Cannae Legion Day Pack

The Legion Day Pack has a 21-litre capacity and is 60cm high, 29cm wide and 15cm deep and weighs 1.3kg. It’s made from 500D Cordura, with a padded interior; so, it’ll shrug off even the worst abuse and come back for more and is the ideal size to be able to carry the essentials while on the hill stalking deer or for carrying all sorts of shooting gear etc. A single, heavy-duty YKK zip goes up and over the main compartment, which allows the front flap to open fully for easy access. There are elasticated compression straps on the back wall of the compartment and there’s a large pouch in the rear, ideal for securely storing a fair-sized laptop.

On the front of the pack is a zipped compartment 12-inches high by 8-inches wide with a zipped mesh pouch on the back wall, which is perfect for documents, passport etc. There’s another zipped pouch on the inside front of this compartment and a couple of pockets, ideal for housing a mobile phone and there’s a headphone port where a cable can pass through. Keys are kept safe and secure thanks to the small, permanently attached polymer carabiner. On the outside front flap, there are four strips of Molle.

The rear of the pack is padded for enhanced comfort and has ventilation channels moulded into it to help with airflow and a zipped hydration compartment can be used for carrying a 2-litre water bladder. On either side of the pack there are pockets that are perfect for water bottles but as there are adjustable straps higher up, tent poles etc. could be carried and the straps used to hold them in place, or they could even be used to carry rifle magazines. There’s more Molle on the pockets and above them and in total this pack has 37 Mil Spec Mole attachment points.

The Legion is carried using padded, adjustable shoulder straps and there’s a similarly adjustable waist belt and a thinner chest strap secures the pack in place. That’s not all though, as there are a couple more adjustable straps on the bottom of the pack, so a groundsheet could be carried securely. The bottom of the pack is made from waterproof material but the drainage hole could allow water to get into the pack if it were put down on very wet ground; I’d be tempted to seal it with a couple of bits of gaffer tape if I expected to use the pack in really wet weather, or it could be sealed with a dab of silicone if required. Sunglasses or shooting glasses can be carried in a soft pouch on the top of the pack and there are four handy D-rings fitted to the pack, as well as a robust, rubber grab handle stitched to the top.

Conclusion

The Cannae Legion Day Pack held all my gear for a weekend camping trip and I’ve used it on holiday and for carrying shooting gear to the range. It looks like it will cope with just about anything and should last for years!
