Armsan Silah A.S is a name that has become very familiar these days in shotgun circles, for all the good reasons. It’s one of the many Turkish manufacturers but has a very good reputation. They offer a good range of styles, calibres and designs at a very good price point.
The Model A612S is a 12-gauge semi-automatic from the A600 series and it has an overall length of 48.25” plus has a length of pull of 14.25”. It only weighs 6.6lbs and handles really well, plus it comes with a black synthetic, soft touch stock which definitely adds extra grip.
Retailing for just £421.99, what’s not to like? This gas-operated piston actioned semi-auto offers reliability and a very good build quality. Plus it comes with a 4-year guarantee.
The 28” barrel has 3” chambers and fleur de leys proof marks for steel shot, so good for any normal 12-gauge load. 26-grams and above are best. A set of three flush fit chokes and key are supplied in a plastic wallet covering ¼, ½ and full choke in 12-gauge and the slim 8mm vented rib and a single fibre optic red sight is very visible. I like the practical matt, almost parkerised finish, which is ideally suited for hunting purposes.
The action is a gas piston system with large twin ported barrel vents and a sliding stainless steel piston ring, which contribute to the Armsan’s reputation for reliability. This is further enhanced by the large single claw type extractor and easily manipulated bolt operation.
Trigger wise, there is a synthetic trigger guard with a nice cut out at the rear edge so the second forefinger does not get hit by recoil. The trigger itself is black, slim and smooth with little creep and a simple cross-bolt safety.
Overall, Armsan’s build quality is very good, and the performance of this A612S makes it the bargain of the century.
