Kestrel launches new 5700 Elite Meter with Applied Ballistics

  • US company Kestrel has launched a new weather meter, the 5700 Elite with Applied Ballistics, which combines sophisticated environmental sensing features with long-range shooting ballistic information in a hand-held device. Exclusively distributed by Edgar Brothers in the UK, the new weather meter is an essential tool for both target shooters and hunters, and measures up to 15 environmental parameters, allowing users to adjust their windage accurately and with ease. Portable and light, the Kestrel 5700 Elite can link to smartphones using Bluetooth and, thanks to the “LINK” feature can also work in conjunction with compatible rangefinders. There is also a free App for both iPhone and Android. . The built-in applied ballistics feature includes the “Litz” measured ballistic coefficient library of more than 225 bullets as well as custom drag curve modelling, helpful in engaging targets beyond the supersonic range of the bullet. The ballistic calibration feature allows you to “train” the solver based on actual bullet impact and you can build firearms profiles on your computer and transfer them to the Kestrel using Bluetooth.

  • Another improvement over previous Kestrel weather meters is the screen, which is high resolution, and allows for clear and easy viewing in any light, while the user-interface is also on the screen and is intuitive to use. The screen is scratch and break resistant and includes options of red (night vision) and white backlighting. Available in black, tan, olive or blaze orange, the Kestrel 5700 takes one AA battery. The meter comes with multiple language options (English, French, German, Spanish). While slightly larger in size to previous Kestrel meters, the 5700 Elite will fit in the same cases.
