Helle Spire Fixed Blade

The Helle Spire is made using only top-quality components, although, unusually, it doesn’t use the company’s own, patented, triple laminated stainless steel for the blade. Instead, it uses Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, which is a martensitic stainless chromium steel with an optimized analysis for high quality professional knife applications. After heat treatment, the composition of carbon and chromium gives a unique combination of properties, including a very high level of hardness, good corrosion resistance, plus a very high level of sharpness and edge retention.

The Spire features a birch handle with a dark brown coloured stain and has been purposely made to fit a four finger-grip for small hands, protected by a wooden finger guard at the front. Interestingly, in Norwegian, Spire means ‘to sprout’.

A 2.6”, stick tang, Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade provides a good balance in relation to the handle size and also makes the knife easy to handle. The tip of the blade has been slightly dulled, so is of more use for whittling wood for kindling and such like, but the blade itself is razor-sharp for generalpurpose cutting duties.

The Spire comes with a natural leather sheath with a notch that means the handle passes through to secure with the finger guard. It can be totally secured with a snap-on button over strap at the top and has a generously sized belt loop at the rear. The natural leather is embossed with a symbolic sprout growing from its spine. There’s also a generously sized cleaning cloth.
