Airmasters 88 Rigidity Scope Rail

Airmasters 88 have long been synonymous with high-end airgun customization. Under review here is a brand new product from the Airmasters stable, designed as a direct result of feedback received from enthusiasts of Weihrauch’s popular HW100 pre-charged pneumatic air rifle series.

The HW100 rifle has been a run away success ever since it left the drawing board stage. Part of the design of the HW100 sees a two-part breech block, and with this in mind, Airmasters have produced a dedicated scope rail to bridge the two sections, and add super rigidity in the process. With all pre-charged pneumatics, microscopic movements take place as the cylinder expands and contracts as the residual pressure changes throughout the charge. The Airmasters scope rail will minimize any possible chance of zero shift, by creating an ultra stiff base for the scope.

The Rigidity Scope Rail is specifically designed for any HW100 fitted with the rotary magazine. It will fit the HW101 single shot model, but with restricted access to the breech, loading becomes very fiddly.

Where the standard factory set-up necessitates the use of two individual split-ring mounts positioned either side of the block, with the new Airmasters rail in place the shooter is free to position the scope and mounts exactly where they need to be, even allowing for the use of a one-piece mount if so desired.

Perfect Fit

The rail is machined from a single block of aircraft grade aluminium and is a perfect fit over the existing factory dovetails… and I mean perfect. Just sliding the rail on from the rear of the action proved the way forward. The utter precision brings a reassuringly snug fit, and with the new rail machined
to the exact length of the existing block, and finished to the same standard, it’s a beautiful addition that really is aesthetically pleasing. Once in place it should never need to come back off.

Airmasters supply the rail with a polished black anodised finish, which means that it not only compliments the action but is super resistant to wear too. Once in place, three allen screws sit to the rear, and two sit at the front. Just nip these up evenly in the usual alternate manner (in much the same way as car wheel nuts) and the job is done.

All in all, this is a superbly engineered, first class product, aimed at serious shooters (be they hunters or exponents of the ultra precision sports of FT or Hunter FT); who simply wish to leave nothing to chance. Price is just £49.99 including postage.
