Rowan Engineering supply spring-loaded, single-shot loading (SSL) clips for a selection of popular PCP airguns. They have recently designed a slightly different version which is compatible with the FX Impact.
The SSL for the Impact isn’t spring-assisted, but like the other versions, it is manufactured from Delrin. To fit the unit, it is inserted into the right-hand side of the rifle’s magazine housing. Once in situ, the loading arm is manually lifted over clockwise, whereupon it stays open under its own weight. This then allows the shooter to thumb a pellet directly into the exposed chamber. Upon closing, the SSL Clip now holds the pellet arm securely in place using an internal magnet and the pellet is precisely in line for probing directly into the breech. It will take quality pellets under 8.5mm in length and is available in .177, .22, .25 and .30 calibre.
Some shooters prefer ‘clips’ to a magnetic singleshot loading tray because the pellet can sometimes tilt ever so slightly as it moves along the tray. This can cause damage to the pellet head as it enters the breech, and therefore affect accuracy. However, when using a loading clip, the probe pushes the pellet straight out of the SSL’s chamber without any chance of damage.
