Custom Targets Coronavirus Target

With ‘Dishi Rishi’ throwing eye-watering sums of money around like there’s no tomorrow, large swathes of our economy on hold, and all thoughts of a holiday reduced to the prospect of spending two weeks sleeping in the car in the local park, you could indeed be forgiven for thinking you were trapped in a bad dream. However, despite those irritating negative pundits constantly deliberating over the ‘new normal’, for the more optimistic among us there is plenty of light at the end of the tunnel.
In the meantime, if you fancy poking the proverbial two fingers up at the poxy Covid-19, then those creative people at Custom Targets down in Somerset have obligingly come up with the perfect solution: their new ‘Avenger’coronavirus reactive target.
The infamous virus takes its name from its spiked ‘crown’ formation, and the new Avenger target is made to resemble that distinctive pattern. The new target is 8-inches in diameter and, like most of the Custom Targets range, is manufactured from biodegradable 3mm hardboard, which is all very user-friendly. There’s a plethora of reactive shootaway zones, of varying sizes, with an inner ring of eight zones, then a ring of 19, then 32 small zones on the outer ring, with a further 32 larger zones on the outside. 91 zones will keep even the keenest shot happy for a good while, and I would say it’s all a good challenge, irrespective of your chosen distance to the target.
The target incorporates a 6mm centre hole (as do most of their designs), and this allows it to be hung from the push-in-the ground spike target holder, also supplied for my review. Just unscrew the wing nut, push on the target, and gently nip up the nut. The holder just pushes into the grass, or even a pot of earth, and with a suitable back stop in place, the evil looking thing can be shot to ribbons!
It always helps when the manufacturers are enthusiastic shooters themselves, and that’s definitely the case at Custom Targets. Having their own graphics business equipped with laser technology and metal and wood engineering systems has proved handy, and for those with one eye on the environmental side of things, these targets also score highly on those grounds. Hardboard means there’s no splinters to worry about, and if like me, you shoot in a field used by livestock, that’s a good consideration. Obviously, the idea initially is to shoot out the small kill zone, but with half the fun, shooting away the remainder of the target surrounds, it’s fair to say that there’s little waste left at the end of the action!
Other than the Avenger, Custom Targets offer a wide selection of targets, either individually, or as multi packs, in a variety of animal shapes, as well as some fun shapes. They also supply chalk targets and of course the target holders. All the sizes, and number of zones are listed on the website, and are available from their online store.
