Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum Pellets

› The American brand, Crosman, which is part of the Velocity Outdoors group, has gained quite a reputation for high-grade airgun pellets over the last couple of decades. The Crosman Premier has won more than its fair share of Field Target silverware over that time, and on show here is the Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum. In .177 calibre specifically, the increased weight gives this round more of a punch, and possibly makes it more resistant to wind. The downside will, of course, be a more curved trajectory, given the added weight, which is mainly in the solid domed head. However, this perceived disadvantage is less of an issue for FT competition shooters, as they are permitted to use range-finding scopes with parallax adjustment systems. Equally, many modern hunters utilise laser rangefinders and the like, so the effects of a more marked trajectory suddenly become fairly irrelevant. That goes some way to explaining the popularity of this traditional dome-headed pellet.

Super-consistent weights and precise formation are a big part of Crosman’s winning formula, so it’s no surprise these Premier Ultra Magnums feature on the shortlist of many serious enthusiasts.
