The particular knife under review here is the Cudeman Custom (128- LC), which is in fact a bushcraft/utility knife with a full tang construction. It does in fact have many similarities to the Cudeman 147-L Bushcraft knife but the Custom has a much more Scandinavian inspired style including the ‘scandigrind’ straight edge blade. The 100mm (4”) long blade is made of 3.7mm stock Bohler K720 Carbon Steel (approx. equivalent to 02 Carbon Steel) with a hardness of 58-60 HRC. Total length of the knife is 229mm (9” approx.). The knife weighs 164g (5.75oz approx.) on its own and 230g (8oz approx.) with the sheath.

The handle is made from two well figured, natural finished, Spanish Olive wood scales, simply shaped with a palm swell and single guard, and held in place with three hex-bolts. A 5mm lanyard ferrule completes the handle. The Cudeman Custom is supplied with a sheath, once again in the Scandinavian style which seats the knife deeply, although it is made from one piece of quality Spanish leather, stitched and riveted with a 60mm (2.6”) belt loop.

We carried out some standard tasks with this knife – rope cutting, food and fire material preparation - and it handled them all easily. Priced at a very reasonable £62.95 the Cudeman Custom is available from Moonraker Knives on 01747 830418 http://www.moonrakerknives.co.uk
