Olivon 8-24 x 40 CF Zoom Monocular

A monocular will often mimic a popular size of binocular such as 8x20, 8x42, 10x42 etc, but more recently we are seeing monoculars with a high zoom magnification capability. The lightweight 8-24x40 CF Zoom Monocular weighs 200-grams, measures 155 x 50 x 50mm (LxWxH) when closed, then extends to 190mm. It’s obviously not the most compact monocular on the market, but you’re still getting an observation device with a large amount of available magnification that will fit into a jacket pocket.

The optical device features a fast focus ocular, while the magnification (zoom) ring is positioned just forward of it. For focusing, simply turn the outer edge of the objective, which quickly brings objects targeted into pin-sharp focus. All the rings, except the rubber ocular/eyepiece, feature rubberised ridging for ease of use.

The multi-coated lenses give an impressive sight picture, even in low light conditions. This is aided by the body diameter as it allows a greater amount of light to enter the unit. The Olivon uses a quality BK-7 glass roof prism for increased image clarity. Depth perception and the field of view (FOV) are also quite impressive, plus the close focus of 1.6m further adds to its versatility.

The monocular features a tripod fitting that’s neatly protected by a screw-in lanyard, plus it comes with a neck strap and a carry case.
