Rowan Walnut Hamsters

Rowan Walnut Hamsters

Almost every month Rowan Engineering update their website to include new, airgun-related products and now they’ve fully turned their attention to Daystates. I don’t own every model, but this month Rowan have had me yearn to add even more retrofit parts to my rifles. Also they have gone both traditional and state of the art in their most recent offerings for the Mk4, Huntsman, Air Ranger, AirWolf plus older models such as the Merlyn.

First up has to be the definitive’ in cosmetic cool - their walnut hamsters now available in not only various grades of wood but also finish options. These include straight or featured grain which you can choose to suit your existing stock. They’re also supplied fully lacquered orbare, the latter allowing you to finish as you like.

EASY ON, EASY OFF

story continues below...

Hamsters are one of the easiest options to fit; it doesn’t require any modifications to the standard furniture, as it uses the original stock to action mounting area and position for attachment. The kit comes with a longer retaining bolt (same thread as original) and fits stocks with a M12 threaded action attachment point with a 20mm diameter counterbore in the underside of the woodwork.

The collar and mounting post are made from black anodised aluminium. The grade and finish of walnut is of your choosing.  Look beyond the cosmetics, and the practicality of the Hamster is still relevant. In its lowest position it affords approximately 145mm from the base to barrel centre line with 18mm of upward adjustment.

ON THE PULL

Next the adjustable, match-type trigger post with trigger shoe options. All models of Daystate are catered for by these units, however, now they’ve gone that extra yard and supply trigger guards in all finishes. This is an area many take for granted, and on high end rifles that have metal trigger guards – I have to agree it’s a good option for those looking to smarten up this area and if you are so inclined, ‘colour co-ordinate’ trigger with guard. Should you want bling, they can supply polished aluminium and even I can see for HFT/FT they do look a tad special. As a matter of interest these trigger guards also fit most models of Weihrauch too.

A part you’d not think not worth changing is the cocking bolt. But you’d be wrong and according to Rowan the most popular are brass! As you’ve seen previously on my Air Ranger, the same design adjustable butt pad is also available for most models. Daystate owners have never had it so good!
