Air Arms TX 200 accessories
- Last updated: 22/11/2016
On a regular trawl through Rowan’s website it’s become more noticeable Dave and Derek Rowan are spreading their wings now to ‘classic’ springers, in particular the HW’s and more recently the Air Arms TX200 and ProSport.
First nifty number that caught my eye was the butt pad adjuster. It uses the existing rubber pad but sandwiched in-between are a base plate and the outer adjustable plate you screw your original pad back onto. Very similar to the one they offer for the Daystate range that we had in Workshop; this is a quality, easy DIY home fit item.
MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE!
Obviously the kit contains the necessary hardware to re-fit the existing pad to give vertical adjustment. First though some advice – look on the website and check out the diagram where it clearly shows where to measure your stock dimensions. It should be approximately 1mm smaller in overall height and width than the plate dimensions shown on the site. There’s a link showing full pictorial details for fitting. Once done it offers 5mm of upward and 40mm downward adjustment.
The kit contains its own comprehensive fitting instructions and all necessary component parts needed. To recap: Once the rubber butt pad is removed from the stock, then it’s mounted to a ‘sized’ polished aluminium plate with two small pins projecting outwards set apart towards the top. These mate up to the stock plate that you affix to your rifle’s exposed butt wood, which has two lengthy runs of parallel vertical slots machined into it so the pins of the one holding your pad locate, so it can slide up and down.
HEY CHEESE HEAD!
The locking mechanism is known as a ‘cheese head screw.’ Installation requires you drill the back of the stock to accommodate its position and not hinder function, but it isn’t excessively invasive or difficult to do. The side oblong cut-outs in the plates allow the use of the stainless steel lever lock bar (provided) to release and lock down the plates once the height is adjusted to suit. There’s also a kit available for the ProSport.
Where would we be without the myriad of adjustable trigger blades Rowan now manufacture? CNC-machined from 6082 aluminium or quality brass, it’s adjustable forwards/backwards by 10mm and can be twisted and locked to the most comfortable position for contact with the pad of your shooting finger. It also has two positions on the post for vertical adjustment.
STRAIGHT FORWARD
Again, fitting has been covered in Workshop and is straight forward. Only one pin needs to be removed from the trigger unit, but as always, at this part of the rifle I advice anybody uncertain to have the kit fitted by a reputable gunsmith. The package includes mounting fasteners, Allen key and fitting instructions. This particular adjustable trigger also fits the Air Arms ProSport.
Fancy a hamster? Well Rowan make those for TX200 and ProSports too. CNC-machined in black Delrin with aluminium support posts. Dimension from barrel centre line to base of hamster plate is approx 115mm. The posts are black-anodised aluminium and the rear post utilises the existing stock/trigger guard screw position, with a new longer screw supplied. The stock will require one new 6mm hole drilling to fit the front post. Kit includes mounting fasteners, Allen key and comprehensive fitting instructions.
AID TO COCK
The Cocking Aid has already proved extremely popular with TX200 owners. The TX200HC comes with one ready fitted. The standard rifle kit Rowan supply includes a 95 X 21mm outer diameter knurled hollow cocking aid, CNC-machined from 6082 aluminium. This uses four grub screws to hold it in place on the front of the cocking arm and is available in black anodised or plain aluminium finish. Granted you can purchase similar units from other outlets but these are often steel which puts too much weight up front and unbalances the gun.
