JSR Trident Tri-Rail System

JSR Trident Tri-Rail System

Regular readers will know the Tri-Rail Mount as I’ve championed its virtues in my Airgun Hunter articles as it’s a practical system that allows you to fit torches and lasers on your scope. JSR now offer what they call the JSR Trident Tri-Rail System which besides the ‘mount’ includes a torch and laser in the package.

Tri-Rail consists of standard, double-screw, claw-type one inch rings to fit the slimmer, 11-12mm airgun dovetails. The rear is as you would expect, but the front has three, 3” lengths of Weaver/Picatinny style rail at 12, 3 and 9 o’clock positions. Sensibly it’s offered in both medium and high versions to accommodate larger objective scopes.

Bolt-on & Mount Up

story continues below...

The laser and torch come with everything needed – batteries, switches - integral push button and remote pressure pad as well as the all important mounting clamp. The laser like the other units is made from aircraft grade aluminium hard anodised for extra wear resistance. It’s also compact measuring 2.2 X .56” and weighs less than an ounce. During test I’d say it’s also one of the easiest to set up and the 3 X LR44 button batteries that power it project a powerful yet tight dot.

The Tactical Flashlight is much more substantial measuring 4.3 X 1 1/8” and uses 2 X CR123A Lithium batteries, it also comes with mounting and same switching options as the laser. Setting up the scope is no different to standard rings except you have the Tri-Rail mount positioned at the front. You can then decide where to fit the laser and torch to suit your personal needs.

At normal airgun shooting distances the torch, if mounted at 3 or 9 o’clock doesn’t illuminate one side of the sight picture because the front bevel rotates to give spot to flood beam width. So either position gives a full and clear sight picture for you to aim by. A laser set above the sightline obviously allows you to use the unit much more effectively as a range-aiding device set to your scope’s zero.

However such is the versatility you can if you purchase an extra laser use a very different and specialised set up that I’ve mentioned in a previous Airgun Hunter piece. Whichever way you decide to use it, the JSR Trident Tri-Rail System is a practical, versatile and well priced combo. Mount, torch and laser can also be bough separately.
