Wildcat Elite, Elite Compact, and Elite Ti sound moderators

Wildcat Sound Moderators are manufactured in the UK, and the company offers a wide range of mods for various applications, from rimfire to centrefire (including magnum calibres). Today, I am looking at their muzzle-mounted Elite sound moderators. The three models available are the Elite (on test), Elite Compact, and Elite Ti, with the latter being made from titanium.

The details
As soon as you pick the Elite up, you know it is a premium product. It was designed from scratch with the ethos of making the ultimate precision rifle moderator. It had to be extremely durable, rated for magnum use if necessary, and be able to withstand long shot strings, which is where other makes can fall down.
This muzzle-mounted can shows a 44mm diameter, is 187mm long, and adds 172mm to the rifle’s overall length. Weight-wise, it comes in at 635-grams, but if you want a lighter moddy, then the TI weighs just 364-grams, which is a 271-gram saving. The Elite is made as a sealed unit, but the thread inserts can be swapped to suit different rifles. They cost £80 and the options include - 14×1, 15×1, 17×1, 18×1, 18×1.5, 1/2×28, 5/8×24, 11/16×24, and 3/4×24.
The Elite utilises a combination of 17-4 stainless steel and grade-5 6Al-4V titanium for its unique, single-billet manufacturing process, which incorporates a front-mounted dual-core design. This achieves excellent durability and makes the unit very effective at recoil reduction.
All parts are scrupulously quality-checked and made with the highest degree of concentricity. Being sealed, it is difficult to study the internal baffle stack, but it looks like a large primary expansion chamber followed by a series of profiled baffles, ending in two larger spaced baffles. The calibre options include .22, 6.5mm, .30, .338, 9mm, and .45.

In use
I used this Elite on a new Howa 1500 in .300 PRC and it reduced the noise to that of a rifle chambered in .243 Win, plus the recoil was significantly reduced. I have a long-range heavy-barrelled rifle being made, and this would be perfect for that, as at 1000 yards you could spot your own shots.
I also fitted it to a new Weatherby 307 Range XP in .308 Win, with superb results. The muzzle report was so stifled that the landowner, who was sitting on his porch, did not hear me harvest an excellent Roe buck. He heard nothing!

Conclusions
When it comes to this Elite, I can attest to the excellent build quality and noise reduction. Yes, it may seem pricey, but it is designed to last and achieve maximum decibel reduction. Buy the best and cry once.
