Napier Cleaning Products

Steve Rowe (Napier of England) helped develop the oils and lubes for Air Arms’ Master Kits, so when they gave him the nod to brand them and sell them to retailers, he wasted no time. The lubricants were already in place, but what kicked his new POWER range off was the small sampler bottle of Pellet Lube that was cover-mounted on all airgun magazines. If you’ve not yet tried it; do so, as I rate it as an essential item. Available in 25ml pump/aerosol it helps control the amount for even distribution and a quick spray over your pellets prevents oxidising.

Ever Increasing

In 2006 they added POWER Airgun Oil and Grease to become the building blocks of what was to come. Another surprise was their range of quality pellets; the Power Hunter and Target.177 and .22 were both well received, and they’ve now added a third version - the Power UPH in .22 only.

The Oil is in a 200ml aerosol pump with a directable, applicator nozzle. It contains Napier’s acclaimed VP90 - Vapour Phase Protection for the ultimate in corrosion control. Applied sparingly, it stays on as a protective film, leaving the gun fully protected from rust and finger marks. Suitable for any type of airgun and for that matter firearm, its unique properties ensuring proper cleaning and lubrication of the action and barrel bore, without the risk of damage to seals or O rings. The Grease is available in a 25 ml squeeze tube and designed to take care of the breech jaws, mainspring and load bearing surfaces for long term lubrication. Its main ingredient is Molybdenum Disulphide.

Hardware

The POWER pull through kit is a great idea and one to take everywhere you go shooting. It comes in a small, black nylon case with belt loops and carry handle and contains a pull through with handle, 200ml of Airgun Oil, fifty Power Rifle Clean Patches, three large Field (exterior) patches for general cleaning, plus a Pull Through Cable tool and comes with fully illustrated instructions. In use it ensures effective removal of lead and dirt deposits, with no damage to ‘O’-rings or seals.

The airgun kit has proved so popular that Napier now offer a firearm’s version - the Universal Rifle Cleaning Kit. It contains oils and specific solvents to target fouling laid down by the cartridge as it fires. As before it comes with a pull through and a field case. Napier also offers rigid, brass cleaning rods with knurled green anodised aluminium handles. Although a pull-through is convenient these rods will allow a proper scrub out with brushes and patches, which I feel is essential for FAC-rated air rifles as you can get a few lead deposits due to the higher speeds generated. Another goody is the Ultrasoft Micro Filament Gun Cleaning Cloth, which is a great way of keeping both metal and wood in top shape on any gun type.

Bench or Field

The Universal Cleaning Mat is another clever concept. It rolls up for carriage and measures 54 ½ X 15 ¾ when open. It has 5mm padding outside for protection and a soft inner surface to lay the gun on that won’t snag or lint.  It will also resists oils and chemical spills and can even be hand washed, if required. At one end there’s a ribbed/strengthened section with cut-outs to hold bottles and jags etc. Equally useful on a work bench, in the field or in your truck, the mat provides a safe and secure base for any cleaning you might have to do on the spot. It’s also possible to store cleaning rod section inside when it’s rolled up. No question this is a really great idea and product.
