Fenix HL30 & HP25 Headlamps

Fenix have quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned worth due to the quality of hunting and utility lighting products they offer. The two featured here are higher power, well-featured headlights which in my opinion will be of most use for those who hunt at night. All come with batteries and have variable power levels and modes.

Fenix HL30

First up is the Fenix HL30 with its unified design, so the 2 x AA batteries that power it are housed in the lightweight lamp unit itself. A thoughtful inclusion with the kit is the spare rubber seal for the battery compartment. This versatile compact head torch features a waterproof structure and offers 4 lighting levels, a single red LED light (to preserve nightvision) and a SOS (flashing) mode. The two yellow rubberised pressure switches positioned on the top of the toughened ABS casing of the lamp housing are the operation buttons. Pressing the left button switches the lamp on and off and to access the different light levels, red light and SOS mode requires the switch on the right to be lightly pressed which allows you to scroll through the mode menu to access the 4-powr levels of 4L, 45L, 100L and then the 200L.

The light source is a Cree XP-G R5 LED with a maximum output of 200 lumens, an impressive 140 hours run time on the low setting of 4 lumens, plus a wide, pre-focused beam. The lamp head can be tilted down almost 80-degrees (via a very quiet ratchet system) from the closed full-on face position.

Fenix HP25 Dual-Beam

story continues below...

Next is the top of the range Fenix HP25 Dual-Beam. Powered by 4 x AA batteries this very powerful head torch offers an impressive 360 lumens maximum output coupled with the masses of light mode options.

This is due to the ‘unique’ dual beam system which utilises separate brightness controls so you can adjust each beam individually and due to this it offers an unprecedented 12 combinations of flood and long-throwing light. Not only that but you can also adjust it to give 8 individual settings with only one beam activated. This enables the use of the flood light on its own for close in tasks, or the long distance beam for spotting, or a combination of the two beams for illumination of a wide area.

The Lamp Head Can Also Be Tilted.

The 4 X AA batteries that power it are housed in a dedicated battery pack at the rear of the headband. The pack utilises an easy to ‘load’ and practical ‘battery carrier’ system to ensure batteries are always properly installed. Rated waterproof to IPX-6 for all weather use it also features a heat sink for excellent thermal management and heat dissipation. Also, the built-in mode memory circuit remembers your last used lighting level for each lamp unit. Controls are easy to navigate and are easily accessed on top of the lamp unit.

Both the Fenix headlights feature are very high quality, top performing headlights.

Priced at £38.95 for the Fenix HL30 and £59.95 for the HP25 Dual-Beam Headlight, for more information contact The Photon Shop 02921 157162 or visit www.myfenix.co.uk
