Clulite Super Bright LED GunLite
- Last updated: 15/12/2016
It was the middle of last year the first gun-mountable ‘rechargeable’ LED lamping kits started to appear. Cluson Engineering surprised many with their Rechargeable LED Master-lite Supreme; including the Editor. Filter kits are now available and I’m going to re-visit it for the future, but keeping on the curve they have now designed their own compact, Lithium–ion Battery Packs as seen elsewhere.
Full Monty
The full kit includes the Super Bright LED Gunlight, hand lanyard/wrist strap, in-house, Li-ion, re-chargeable battery, charging cradle with both mains and car adaptors and a 4-mode, remote switch with Velcro pads for stock-mounting. Last but definitely not least, their new design torch to scope mount. It’s versatile with its ball-headed, mounting clamp that gives an unrivalled degree of adjustment and duel, 25 to 30mm facility allowing it to fit both common scope tube diameters.
Measuring 5 3/8” long with to the tail switch, the body is 1” in diameter with a 1 ¼” front head. Rotatable it allows you to adjust the beam width from spot to flood and also accepts a push-on, red filter lens. Manufactured in aircraft grade aluminium, its black anodised for extra protection. It’s fully, O-ring sealed so waterproof and this tough cookie weighs only 132-grams including battery!
Li-ion
Cluson don’t give too much away on the specifications of the Li-ion battery except to say: it’s “a new generation of re-chargeable” with a built in battery management system (BMS). It doesn’t have a memory so is capable of taking over 600 full recharge cycles. Each giving 3-hours continuous on full beam, charging time is 6-hours.
The real use of the torch is on-gun and Cluson’s scope mount allows infinite positing to suit any need. In this mode it’s better to remove the ON/OFF switch from the rear and fit the remote pressure pad and stock-mount it using the Velcro pads. Ten inches long it shows a straight section at either end with a coiled middle.
Power-wise it uses a single-focused, 3W LED rated at 125 lumens! On full, un-filtered white beam I could spot rabbits at around 100yds. Clever is the fact the remote offers click-on and touch-on, full and low beam. To my knowledge this is the first pad of this type to offer these functions, which makes it highly practical. In my opinion this is one of the most versatile, robust, lightweight and practical lamping kit of its kind for the airgun and rimfire hunter.
For: A compact, effective and practical gun torch system
Against: More for the airgun and rimfire hunter
Verdict: A well-priced and versatile gun light system
