Clulite Trio Pro Gunlight Kit

There’s no disputing that lamping kit has come a very long way in a short space of time, with the amount of self-contained LED Tactical Torches with no trailing wires to external battery packs now becoming the norm. Personally, I’ve pondered how these units could progress to be even more appealing, but having recently tested the Nightmaster Venom Strike – as many know the torches manufactured by that company are designed so the colour of the LED can be changed rather than having to use a filter – this has certainly set the trend for others to follow. A rather longwinded introduction to this test but from the off I want to dispel the notion the Clulite Trio Pro is jumping on the bandwagon, because although it also has an interchangeable LED facility the company are wisely moving forward to keep in-line with more recent developments on the lamping scene.

The full Trio Pro Kit includes the torch body with tactical tail switch (plus hand lanyard), remote switch, ‘Dual’ (25mm and 30mm) multi-adjustable gun mount,1x 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery, mains charger, and as the name suggests there are three different colour LEDs (White, Red and Green) set in their own removable screw on/off lamp head housings.

Manufactured from aircraft grade aluminium, the hard black anodised torch is fully sealed and protected from the elements with rubber o-rings. With a lamp head in place the one inch diameter torch measures a very compact six inches in length. Interestingly the lamp housings that hold the LED’s are quite substantially sized in comparison to the torch body as they’re 1¾ inches in diameter and when removed measure 2 3/8 inches long.

Three Of A Kind

story continues below...

The ‘Trio’ has two lighting modes of high and low beam, both of which can be accessed by the tail switch or as most hunters will use, the remote switch – more on the design of the latter later. Rated at 250 Lumen when switched to full power, the torch with any LED in place is specified at having a ‘lighting’ distance of approximately 200 metres and to be able to pick up reflections of your quarry’s eyes at approximately 300 metres. During test I found this to be a sensible and accurate claim as is the approximated two to three hours continuous runtime on high beam and 10 hours on low.

When you require a different colour of light, it’s just a case of unscrewing the front lamp head assembly which is a sealed selfcontained unit housing one of the three colour options of LED.

Under Pressure

To backtrack I feel it’s worth noting that the remote pressure pad switch has a unique design giving the user a high-degree of quick and easy control of the light. The elongated switch which can be positioned anywhere on the stock that suits using the double sided Velcro strips supplied has a ‘dual’ function capability – and more! The chunky ‘raised’ rear section contains a positive on/off switch for when you require continuous light while the forward section holds a momentary ‘dab’ on switch. In other words this activates the torch as long as you hold the switch down. However using either gives you access to the low or full power mode of the unit. This is achieved by pressing once then twice on either – first press activates the light on full beam second ‘dab’ on either immediately changes it to low beam. So although the beam isn’t infinitely adjustable you have quick and easy access to the two lighting modes. Also, the fact you don’t need to use a filter to change colour gives a very tight, pure and very well-defined beam profile on both lighting levels.’
