Condor LEK Utlility Knife

Condor LEK Utlility Knife

The Condor Tool & Knife can trace its proud history back to 1787, the year Gerb Weyesberg Company was founded in Solingen, Germany. The quality of the swords, military knives, agricultural tools and household cutlery they manufactured made Solingen the cutlery capital of the world. Over the generations, the world’s largest manufacturer of swords and knives found it necessary to expand operations to other countries to better serve its customers. In 1964, the company formed IMACASA with a new plant in Santa Ana, El Salvador and filled it with state of the art German equipment. Some of the original local employees, who were sent to Solingen for extensive training forty years ago, are still working in the factory today. The company specialise in turning out heavy edged hand tools, such as machetes, shovels and of course knives. All their products, including their knives, have a very robust and utilitarian look to them – as does the subject of this test – the Condor (Law Enforcement Knife).

Using the same high quality materials and build quality, Condor produce very practical tools, whether that be a large machete for hacking through jungle or a small utility knife like the LEK, for hunting, fishing, camping and all manner of other vital outdoor activities. The Condor LEK has a 3.125” (83mm) modified drop point blade made from 1075 carbon steel of 2.5mm thickness and with an epoxy black powder coating. The blade is a full tang design with the blade’s steel passing right through the handle and tapering into a square pommel – protruding from the bottom of the knife - with a central lanyard hole. The handle’s grip scales are made of a tough, weather resistant and smart looking grey micarta. The knife is supplied with a deep black leather belt sheath.

Overall length of this elegant little knife is 184mm (7.25”) and it feels very light and balanced in the hand. Some may find the slim tapering handle to be a little too slim – and the small steel ‘pommel’ at its base to be a bit obtrusive if you have large hands. If so, you will find there are larger utility knives in the Condor range that may suit you better.

Price is just £48.95.
