Elk Ridge Blue Gentleman’s Lock Knife Review
- Last updated: 13/08/2025
This is a really nice-looking knife, but it is also a very functional tool. The 3” satin-finished 3Cr13MoV stainless steel blade is nicely shaped and comes well-sharpened and ready to go. Edge retention and ease of sharpening with this type of steel are pretty good, and it also has a reasonable degree of corrosion resistance. Although the blade is lightweight and slim, it is still reasonably rigid and strong, and the small thumb stud on the side is perfectly positioned to make opening it one-handed quick and easy.

The 4” handle features bright blue polyoxymethylene scales behind a large stainless steel bolster, and this really makes the knife stand out and hard to lose, which is a handy feature when you are outdoors. Although relatively slim, the handle does provide a comfortable and secure grip, and the shape is good for carrying out fiddly or fine work.
The lock-back locking mechanism is strong, with a well-sized release switch well back on the spine of the handle, where it cannot be accidentally depressed while using the knife. When you open the blade, you can feel the lock engage securely.

Being a locking blade, this is not an EDC tool, but in appropriate situations it is a very handy tool to carry. At 7” in length overall, it is small enough to carry but large enough for general-purpose outdoor activities.
If you’re after a knife that stands out, looks smart, and feels comfortable in the hand, this is a good option.
