I have been looking at the Cudeman Desoladorres Drop Point 9cm blade which offers the custom maker a fine basis for an individual knife. With an overall length of 18cm, the 2.5mm thick 440 stainless steel blade is fully finished with a 9cm hollow ground drop point blade, an integral guard and a 9cm full tang, pre-drilled with two rivet holes. Two sets of white metal cutlers rivets are supplied with the blade to allow you to attach your chosen handle in traditional style.

The blade can be made up into a very fine tool. It takes (and holds) a razor edge without too much difficulty and the steel has good anti-corrosion characteristics.

The “Desoladorres Drop Point 9cm” blade costs £16 (plus p+p) and for those who do not want to make their own sheath for their finished, customised knife, Attleborough Accessories also sell Cudemans own thick cowhide sheath for this knife at £12. Amazingly, they also sell the fully finished knife with olivewood scales and sheath for £24 (what a bargain!) for those not into custom knife making, but fancy owning this handsome blade.
