Miguel Nieto Sport Liock Knife

Miguel Nieto Sport Liock Knife

The Miguel Nieto fixed blade knives which I have previously reviewed have been good quality, so when one of their folding knives arrived expectations were high. Hand-built in Spain and supplied in a nice presentation box, the knife certainly looks really nice, which is a good start.

The Sport Lock Knife has a lock-back mechanism that holds the blade very securely in place. It is released by depressing an exposed section of the lock bar, located on the spine of the handle. The cut out in the grip is generous, making it easy to operate the mechanism while wearing gloves, which is a useful feature.

The blade is AN58 Spanish steel, hardened to 58-60 HRC, and it stands up rather better than 420 steel when tested on thick cardboard. After reducing several boxes to narrow strips, the blade did not appear to lose its edge. At 3mm thick on the spine, the drop-point blade is very strong and is supplied razor sharp.

The frame and handle are hardened chrome with ABS scales and the well-shaped finger grooves provide a nice comfortable grip. A large clip on the side slips onto either a pocket or belt easily and holds the knife there very securely.

This is a really nice looking and practical knife. Another great example of the handmade blades from Miguel Nieto. It’s well priced too.
