I’d heard of the Bulgarian brand Manly but knew nothing about them, unlike my friends at Heinnie Haynes, as they stock many of their knives. They were impressed enough to approach them to make an exclusive U.K. legal folding knife for them, based on a model they already sell, the Wasp non-locking folder, which is very popular in the U.K due to its U.K. law friendly features, i.e. a non-locking of CPMS90- V powdered metallurgical stainless steel blade less than 75mm long. This exclusive Wasp has red G10 scales, Heinnie Haynes’ company colour.
The Wasp comes with a 50mm long pocket clip, which can be positioned on either side of the knife but only in the ‘tip up’ configuration. I’m impressed by the way the Wasp blade folds out, the slip joint system has three stops on it, 45-degrees, 90-degrees and 135-degrees and then to the full open at 180-degrees. This makes it extra, extra safe, another example of a good design. It has a drop point blade with a nail nick on the left-hand side of the blade. It’s a very useful blade shape and grind. The Wasp has many fans in the U.K. and, now I have handled one, I can see why.
Many thanks again to Bruce and Richard for help in the production of this article.
