US-based Ultimate Survival Technologies (UST) produce a diverse line of safety and survival tools and equipment. Featured are a trio of associated kit that are certain to appeal to hunters, outdoorsmen and those who practice Bushcraft
Measuring 9.7 x 3.4 x 0.75”, the Parahatchet FS (Fire Starter) has a thick stainless-steel blade with black-oxide finish, a flint fire starter is included, and multi-sized hex wrenches are integrated into its build, seen along the top side of the head. The sheath has been thoughtfully designed, so that the hatchet can be safely accessed with the sheath in place covering the forward cutting edge. The hex-wrench sizes are 3/8, 9/16, and 11/16” and when the kit is in the heavy-duty black nylon sheath with belt loop the package still only measures 10” x 4” x 1.25” and weighs 11.4oz. The blaze orange paracord wrapped handle gives approximately 8ft of usable and strong cordage. The thick blade easily chops firewood and branches, plus it has a ‘quick-action’ rope cutter on the opposite side to the edge. The magnesium fire starter that comes included with it has its own protective sheath, using it with the blade and you’ve got the capability of creating big fat sparks in all weather conditions.
Measuring 8.75 x 1.25 x 0.75” and weighing 4.7oz, The ParaKnife FS™ 4.0 has a stainless-steel, fixed blade with black-oxide finish and full tang. The 4” long cutting-edge is rustresistant, designed for rugged use and part serrated for heavy-duty cutting or other such tasks. The paracordwrapped handle provides a safe, comfortable and secure grip in all-weather conditions and when/if required unwraps to give approximately 6ft of cordage. Included with the knife is a magnesium fire starter with a protective sheath. Both items can be stored in the full sheath with belt loop that comes supplied and when stored the kit measures 10 x 2 x 1.25” and weighs 6.5oz.
Completing this trio is a small ParaKnife™ 2.0 PRO. Measuring 5.3 x 0.15” and weighing a mere 1.3oz the ‘dual-function’ blade measures 1.5” long. This slimmer profile is still suitably strong stainless-steel with black oxide finish and could be described as a multi-function-tool. The blade boasts dual edges – one side having a fine edge, while the opposite is serrated if almost saw-toothed. The skeletal handle has a 2” ruler, plus integrated into the build are multi hex wrenches and a bottle opener can be seen just to the rear of the blade. The Para Tinder wrist lanyard can be unwrapped to give approximately 3ft of cord with an added single tinder thread. A fire starter is included, plus, a useful emergency whistle is attached to the opposite end of the lanyard. The sheath is smaller but identical to the Para 4.0s and holds the kit safe and secure for quick access.
