Ridgeline Monsoon Jacket & trousers

Thanks to Highland Outdoors the importers of the New Zealand based Ridgeline Clothing Company; we now have a comprehensive range of their top quality kit in the UK. I’ve chosen to take two items from their range of apparel to illustrate how you can ‘mix ‘n’ match different items to produce a hunting suit to your needs.

Soft Touch

I also took build into consideration as they’re based on the effective RL-Tex fabric. Termed a 3-layer build, this hi-tech material is 100% waterproof/windproof and offers a high level of breathability. The outer soft touch silent shell does exactly what it says.

First up is the Monsoon II Euro Performance Jacket/Smock. It’s a pull-over design much like the New Zealand bush shirt idea, with a closed front and a short zippered neck section with storm flap. This build does give you a feeling of full body protection, though is probably not as quick to get in and out of as a fully opening jacket as you have to shrug it on/off. An external draw cord is included at the waist.

A generous, fully adjustable and detachable hood with peak, attaches by zip and press studs, which is, always a practical feature! The pocket layout is sensible and offers a good degree of easy access having a double press stud down overflap on the upper left breast with a horizontal access self- sealing zipper closed pocket opposite and two same closured design handwarmer pockets are found towards the lower section. The rear of the smock is shaped for maximum comfort and protection with the back extending slightly longer than the front. Cuffs have strong, tab-pull Velcro adjuster straps for cinching around the wrists.

Plain or Camo

The Roar Trousers are similarly well designed, feature the same waterproof zips on the side pockets. There are 1/3-lenght zips extending up from the cuff to allow easy putting on over boots.  The dome, semi-elasticated waistband has zip fly and stud fastening with belt loops. At the back is a reinforced seat. At the ankle a 3-position press stud and Velcro adjuster strap gives the final cinch! Both garments are available in Buffalo Camo, Tan or Olive.
