It’s not really a shock to know that many tactical clothing and gear manufacturers are still releasing new kit now, that should have been seen at the cancelled IWA 2020 show in Germany. It seems like they’re now releasing things with gusto!
Everything seems to be kicking into top gear again at the moment and there are a whole host of great new items that are hitting the stores right now. My friends over at Clawgear have just sent me over a pair of their latest MKII Operator Combat Pants to check out, and already I’m liking what I see!
These new pants/trousers are the result of some close co-operation with various Special Operations Forces (SOF) operators and sets the focus on fit and versatility. Clawgear have a history of trialling their new stuff at ‘the sharp end’ before they release them to the general market, and although this adds time to an already scrupulous design and test program it does mean that what we see, and indeed buy is 150% fit for purpose!
I’ve been using their original Operator Combat Pants for some considerable time now, and they’ve stood up to every bit of abuse I can throw at them, whether it be on the airsoft field, or on the range, when I visit my friends in the USA. The MKII version takes things up a notch though!
The addition of stretchable elements massively improves the mobility of the user and makes even dynamic movements incredibly smooth. The new garment has many proven features such as a waist-adjust system and the sophisticated knee section with internal height adjustment. They also show many newly developed features such as an improved pocket concept and completely new tailoring.
They are made from a combination of cutting-edge fabrics such as NIR NYCO blend (50% polyamide, 50% cotton) according to US MIL-DTL-44436B, and NIR stretch elements (93% polyamide, 7% polyurethane). They include ‘YKK’ zippers and ‘Amann’ sewing threads. The lining in the knee area is made of a stretchable and durable water repellent performance fabric (87% polyamide, 13% elastane).
The MKII’s offer excellent comfort and great freedom of movement due to the stretch elements and innovative cut. They are optimized for safety and rigger belt use and have adjustable knee-height and integrated knee pad compartments (the pads are optional extras).
Also, they have triple stitched main seams and even offer a reduced infrared signature!
All in all, they’re a right tidy package, and I’m looking forward to really putting them through their paces when I get back out in earnest!
