Anyone who chooses to get involved in the world of Field Target shooting will soon realise that a beanbag-style shooting cushion is a necessity. All freestyle shots are taken from a sitting position, and a shooting cushion gives support as well as comfort when navigating the course. However, it’s not just FT shooters that can benefit from this accessory, since the demands of a live hunting scenario can be met with just the same method. Choose to sit and wait for our prey, and we are naturally in a comfortable, versatile position, ready to adapt and change stance accordingly.
The Shooting Cushion from Range Right is made in the UK, using 600 denier waterproof material, giving it a robust feel from the off. To fill it, open the small zip at the front and drop/pour in your medium. Foam beads are probably best, available from furniture shops/upholsterers, and these will move and settle inside the cushion as necessary. They do compress over time of course, but it’s easy enough to top up the filling from time to time, to get just the desired amount of support. These cushions have a carry handle at the front and a full-length zip across the top for scorecards/paperwork etc. Available in three colours, they are among the best quality I have come across and should last for many years, making them great value.
