Caldwell Stable Table Deluxe Shooting Bench
- Last updated: 14/10/2024
› Caldwell’s Stable Table in this deluxe format is a purpose-built, portable shooting bench with all the features required to set up for a day at the range, providing perfect stability.
Initial assembly
The bench arrives boxed and takes about 10 minutes to assemble for the first time with basic tools. The construction shows tough buff-coloured steel tubing with a durable powder coat finish. The three legs slot into the base and are locked into position with sprung pins, and the bench’s weight solidifies the joint. One of the legs is adjustable and features a turn screw, allowing you to level the bench once it has been assembled.
Multi-height
The seat is supported by a steel bar that slots over the central column. There are seven vertical positions to suit your height, and it is locked in position with another sprung pin. The durable moulded polymer seat is bolted in position, and once assembled from delivery, it can remain attached permanently.
The flat surface is also polymer, and it sits on top of a welded steel frame. It measures 864x584mm (34”x23”) and it has a moulded rim to prevent ammunition or ejected brass from rolling away. The overall weight is 27kg (60lbs), and when set up, it will easily support the heaviest of shooters without a single creak or groan.
Spin around
Both the flat surface and seat can be rotated into position, with locking handles to confirm the location. When you have finished shooting, the unit breaks down into seven pieces to go into the back of your vehicle (the flat surface, seat, centre post, base, and three legs). Assembly or disassembly takes about a minute. Two black polymer forks are also supplied, and these use the carry slots on the flat surface to double up as a cleaning rest. The fore-end and buttstock of the firearm are slotted in position for a secure hold, then a cleaning rod can be used to push patches through, allowing solvent to drip on the ground.
Material details
The seat adjusts from 406mm to 559mm (16” to 22”) from the floor, so most shooters will be comfortable with both feet on the ground. The tabletop stands at 870mm (34”) from the ground and offers up an 1800mm (70”) rest area. Each of the legs is 40mm (1.5”) box section and therefore totally rigid. The centre column has a 60mm (2.4”) diameter and a 2.5mm wall thickness. This is one very solid unit.
When shooting, you don’t get any vibration from the components, and the bench top itself also doesn’t resonate. Each of the sprung locking pins is 13mm in diameter and features a large ring pull on the end for fast extraction. The only modification I have made is to tie these to the relevant frame sections to ensure I don’t lose anything. Lastly, all the polymer areas feature gentle stippling for additional grip.
