Jack Pyke Fieldman Boots
- Last updated: 26/01/2017
After the success of their recently launched high leg Hunter boots, Jack Pyke has now released their new Fieldman boots which look as though they are made to the same high quality, and of similar high spec materials, with the main difference being that they are a slightly lower height than the Hunter, and stand 5 ¾” high at the rear.
The Fieldman are manufactured from full grain leather in brown, and have the same Vibram Trek rubber sole as the Hunter. A high rubber rand has been retained for the extra protection and strength it offers, especially over rough terrain. A Hydroguard membrane is used, meaning the boots are waterproof and breathable, and they have the same mesh inner with 200gms of Thinsulate insulation. They also have an Agion antimicrobial treatment, making them odour resistant – definitely a good thing after a day’s foot slogging on a hot sunny day. There is added padding on tongue and cuff for extra comfort and flexing. There’s advanced heel support technology, in the shape of the slightly raised section at the heel of the boots, with an extra couple of ridges to help when descending slippery slopes.
The same speed lace system is used but obviously there are less contact points for the laces. You still have 4 lower pairs of captive ‘D’-rings that stop at the lower part of the ankle where your foot moves as you walk. An open metal hasp type fastener is set back so the boot can be drawn securely to the instep and then two more pairs ensure the boots can be drawn securely to your ankle.
These Jack Pyke Fieldman boots (Product Code: JBOOFI) look to be the equal of the JP Hunters in every way – it just depends how high you like your boots. I have to say that I always prefer mid-height boots like these Fieldmans – as much for convenience and comfort as anything else - whereas I know that the editor of our sister magazine, Shooting Sports, will always go for the extra protection and leg support of hileg boots like the JP Hunters. You pay your money and make your choice… by the way, Jack Pyke Fieldman boots are piced at £110 (SRP) and are available in UK sizes 6 – 12.
