Ogdens Autoslip Car Case

For those that don’t know, Phil Ogden manufactures a wide range of shooting luggage by hand, here in the UK. He does all sorts of gear, including game bird carriers, rifle slings, shotgun slips, rifle slips, rifle cases, cartridge bags, game bags, dog training bags, gaiters and Roe/Sika sacks. They are all manufactured using the best quality materials (leather, canvas and Cordura) available. These materials are then combined with high quality brass fittings, clips and buckles etc. I personally own one of his Tactical 50 Rifle Slips, a Tactical Shooting Mat and a Cambridge shotgun slip and cartridge bag. They have all been used extensively for years, proving that they are built to last. It is also worth mentioning that Phil does offer a fully bespoke service, so if there is a particular piece of luggage that you are after, then it is well worth giving him a ring! Phil stands by his products and has an excellent reputation within the shooting community.
As we are all aware, when transporting a rifle, shotgun or airgun in a vehicle on public roads, it is necessary for it to be in a gun bag/slip. This is not just for legal reasons, but because a decent bag will help protect your pride and joy from knocks and bumps. This is especially important when it comes to rifles, as a significant impact can potentially cause a riflescope (daytime, night-vision or thermal) to lose its zero. There are, of course, lots of cases to choose from, but Ogden’s Shooting Supplies has come up with something a little bit different - The Autoslip Car Case.
Instead of being a case that you simply lay on the back seat of your vehicle or put in the boot, the Autoslip is designed to be attached to the driver and passenger’s headrests, so that it can hang from the back of the seats in an elevated position, out of the way.
Differing slightly from the advertised dimensions, the slip on test measured 53” in length (exterior) and once sealed, 52” (interior). There is a high-quality zip at each end that includes a para-cord pull tab, so the firearm can be accessed easily from either side of the vehicle. Once unzipped, the opening measures 13” in height (interior is 14”), so there is loads of room for a scoped rifle. The slip comes in black and is made from 600 denier, heavy-duty polyester. Inside, there is 6mm of foam padding and a black velour interior. The case attaches to the headrests via adjustable straps that are closed using typical polymer buckles. For accessories, Phil has added two very large exterior pockets that measure 19 x 10 x 3” (LxHxW). They feature zips and the capacity is particularly generous.
I think it goes without saying that this case will be ideal for those shooters who operate out of their vehicle on private land and need quick and easy access to their firearm while doing pest control (Gamekeepers etc). It would not meet the requirements of a competition shooter, for example, who upon arriving at their destination, needs to transport their rifle to the firing point in a case. Overall, another high quality, clever and affordable product from Ogden’s Shooting Supplies.
