Jack Pyke Sporting Range Gun Slip, Cartridge Pouch, Cartridge Carrier, and Shoulder Bag
- Last updated: 07/05/2024
› Jack Pyke’s Sporting Range of luggage is designed for the clay shooter and manufactured from hard-wearing 600 denier material with a PVC waterproof lining. All zips are large, heavy-duty SBS with glove-friendly pull assists, all seams are double stitched, and strong canvas webbing is used throughout.
Neat slip
The Sporting Gun Slip, measuring 54.5” x 8.5” at the widest section, follows the traditional tapered design, so is unobtrusive and close fitting. It can be carried with the dual webbing handles or the adjustable shoulder strap. With the full-length zip, the gun can be easily accessed at any time. A full inch of internal padding gives a high level of protection to your shotgun. The side pocket can be used for extra cartridges and the bag also features extra reinforcement at the muzzle, plus a hanging loop.
On the belt
For cartridge storage and carrying there are three options. First up is the Sporting Cartridge Pouch. At 13” long x 8.5” wide, it features two external open-top double pockets to house cartridges for quick access. One pocket measures 9.25” deep x 8.5” wide, while the outer measures 8” x 8”, giving plenty of room for keeping loose cartridges close to hand. As they’re open top, drain holes have thoughtfully been incorporated into the bottom of both pockets should it rain. The piping around the edge of the outer pocket gives it a stylish standout appeal.
Carryall
The Sporting Cartridge Carrier measures 13” x 5” x 5” and is compact, durable, and waterproof. It will hold up to 100 boxed cartridges. Sturdy webbing handles can be held together when closed using the integral tab, and the wraparound top zip opening allows easy access. Four strong synthetic mud feet on the underside hold the carrier off the floor. Though relatively basic, it’s strong and very useful.
Over your shoulder
The Sporting Shoulder Bag is much more substantial than the Cartridge Carrier, as the main compartment measures 14” long x 10” deep x 5” wide, while the two outer zippered pockets measure 12” long x 7” deep x 0.5” wide, adding storage capacity. All pockets are PVC lined, so the bag is ideal for use as a game carrier, as the inner can easily be cleaned. The top fastens by a large twin-sided top flap, and a twin zip arrangement allows easy access to the wide opening of the main compartment, plus there are four useful mud feet on the underside. The bag can be carried by a pair of webbing handles or an adjustable shoulder strap.
Conclusions
Jack Pyke has thought of all the carrying options the clay shooter requires and all the Sporting Range have their unique attributes and fulfil specific requirements. Overall, the quality is high considering the very reasonable price point, while certain items, specifically the Carrier and Shoulder Bag, are quite versatile as they have a universal appeal and can be used for other activities.
