Nikko Stirling Laser Flashlight combo

Nikko Stirling Laser Flashlight combo

Unlike other light ‘n’ laser combos the Nikko Stirling Laser Flashlight is housed in a single, moulded, waterproof and shockproof composite body casing. Also the Class III laser is positioned above the torch. In my opinion the optimum place for this sort of set up, rather than being held alongside in a ‘double’ scope clamp mount.

Sensibly the base of the combo will accept your typical 1” Weaver/Picatinny rail. Nikko Stirling also offer their own 1” ring mount that will clamp round the scope’s body tube (providing it’s 1” diameter). However, I feel that there should be a 30mm option too…

Compact and Bijou

The Nikko Stirling Laser Flashlight measures 3 ½ x 2” and is 1 ½” at its widest point. In other words compact! It’s powered by 2 X CR123A 3V batteries that fit into a hinged compartment at the rear of the unit. This is where the all-important, 4-position, rotary selector dial is located that sets how the device ‘comes on’ when powered up.

Operation can be accomplished by a remote, ‘curly whirly’ lead that can be stock-mounted, or the unit’s integral ON/OFF switch at the rear of the housing. When fully rotated to the left the dial isolates the power so the unit can’t inadvertently be switched on in a gunbag as can be the case with many other laser ‘n’ light’ combos that use pressure switches.

The remote switch when used only operates when pressure is applied to its pad. However, the integral button is a simple press ON and forget to the setting you have already programmed into the unit. Mode options starting from the left are as follows; OFF, 1 -  light and laser, 2 - flashlight, and 3 – laser only.

Ideal For Vermin

The laser is adjusted by two small grub screws positioned in the top at the front of the unit and I found setting it up to be by far the easiest of projectors of this type I’ve used. The Nikko Stirling Laser Flashlight didn’t come with any lumen or battery life specifications but I’ve used this now for over two months for both ratting and feral pigeon shooting and it’s still going strong!

I feel this to be the best performing, most simple and practical of light ‘em sight ‘em devices I have used. The light projects a tight bright beam easily out to 40-yds and the laser dot is so positioned even when set to your zero remains well inside the central part of the beam. The red dot it projects is one of the smallest and brightest I’ve encountered.

For: Neat, compact and effective

Against: They need to offer a 30mm ring base too

Verdict: With the growing use of light/laser combos this all-in-one Nikko design is well worth a look
