Liqui-Moly Guntec Products

Liqui-Moly produces an enormous number of lubricants and other chemicals, covering applications from outboard engines to quad bikes, and now they have added a range of gun care products to their line, available exclusively through GMK.

Rapid cleaner

This is a very effective degreasing agent and it certainly does a great job of removing every trace of oil or grease from metal surfaces. The tin label shows items like clutches, so it is obviously a strong cleaner, and if you want to completely strip your gun, and give it the most thorough clean, this product will do exactly that. The flow from the spray nozzle is very strong, so you can ‘blast’ grease out of hard-to-reach areas and clean surfaces without the need to wipe. The fluid then evaporates off leaving a dry, clean surface. You must, of course, oil these parts again soon after they have been degreased, to prevent rust or corrosion. I have been advised that the cleaner is compatible with the blueing on guns, and synthetic stocks, but it is well worth testing it on a non-visible area before using it on your own gun.

Gun care spray

As a gun cleaner/protective coating, the Gun Care spray is an ideal product to apply to your rifle once you finish shooting, to prevent any moisture from getting a grip before you get it home. The product comes in a spray can with an extended and directable nozzle, which produces a strong jet of spray to drive moisture, dirt and grease out of hardto- reach areas of the gun. If your firearm has got wet, then a thorough sprayover with this product will displace moisture very quickly. It leaves a water repellent coating on the surfaces and is also an effective lubricant, giving good wear protection.

Gun oil

This is a nice, mediumviscous oil that is particularly ‘adherent’ when applied to the different surfaces on a gun. It is also fine enough to work its way into a trigger mechanism really well, without you having to strip the gun to apply it. As a protective coating for application to all areas of your gun before you put it away, this is a great oil. However, as with all oils, you should wipe away any excess and swab your barrel before using the firearm.

Gun grease

Initially, the grease would not dispense properly mixed, and just the oil element came out of the tube, but with a good shake and some manipulation of the tube, a firmer and better mix was achieved. The grease then stayed where it was put and coated the surfaces evenly.

On the main hinge pin of a shotgun, it works very well and after opening and closing the action repeatedly, a coat of the grease was still in place. The grease also contains a ‘ceramic solid lubricant’, which is a great high-temperature frictionreducing element and is ideal for the actions of semiauto .22 rimfire guns.
