Plano Extra Large Pro-Max Series Double Rifle Case Review

The Pro-Max case is an ideal solution for those wanting to transport two rifles, or even just a single one with a plethora of accessories alongside. 

What are the Key Security and Design Features?

The case features six latches, as well as padlock tabs, to make sure all stays within, and the external design shows tactile stippling for grip. There is a large, secure carry handle that’s broad and won’t dig into your hand, and there are multiple ribs on the outside profile of the case to add stiffness to the polymer construction. The rim itself is rebated to ensure the two shells remain correctly aligned. Security and crush protection are further aided by the Pillar Lock design that prevents your rifles from getting crushed. 

The overall weight reflects the case’s deluxe design. It is not a lightweight, eggshell construction and has so far proven to be durable, with no signs of cracking in cold weather.

How is the Interior Designed and What Can it Hold?

The case includes a thick, protective, dual-density foam lining, which interlocks to secure even small items in place, and with the foam out, you can access multiple anchor points for the supplied Velcro-type fasteners that ensure nothing moves, even with the case opened.

I had no problem fitting conventional sporting rifles with night vision optics inside. Larger precision rifles with greater bulk will also go into the case, but may need slightly more accurate alignment. There is still plenty of additional space around the rifle for ammo or spare batteries, too.
