Wilderness Gathering 2018

Since 2003 The Wilderness Gathering has been the primary bushcraft and wilderness survival themed event in The UK. What makes this show so special is that the organisers Roger Harrington of Bison Bushcraft and Dominic Harvey the lifestyle chef take special care over the content of the show. Keen to give a festival like atmosphere to the show Roger and Dominic have strived to not only include themed traders,schools and demonstrators but to lay on exhibits and demos all over the site that are related to their core theme of wilderness living skills.

You will often find a deer gralloch demonstration, knife and tool maintenance,leatherwork workshops plus a whole host of primitive technology alongside archery and axe throwing ranges. Families are welcome with specific events and workshops laid on for both primary and secondary age children, including mandatory knife safety and awareness.

The show has a strong ethos of living within and caring for the environment and a woodland camping zone is specifically available for those with hammocks and tarps who wish to live the backwoods lifestyle for the weekend, no tents allowed in this area. There is a traditional tent camping area and one field for campers and caravans.

The food is excellent and supplied and cooked onsite by local small traders including proper hot meals with vegetarian options, organic teas and coffees (with the obligatory cake). There is a small bar area and live music in the evenings plus open fires and campfire stories for all.

All in the perfect event for individuals or families who wish kit themselves out and learn how to live or survive in the wild or just learn how to enhance their wilderness experiences.
