One of H&N’s muchanticipated launches of last year was the Baracuda FT, an incredibly accurate pellet but one that at the time was only available in .177. The ammo proved to be an immediate ‘hit’ with hunters and target shooters alike and is available in two head sizes (4.5mm and 4.51mm).
At 9.57-grains, they’re quite a heavy projectile but fill a specific niche in H&N’s comprehensive range of pellets.
The company has now launched two versions of the pellet in .22 calibre. However, they’re simply named Baracuda 15 and Baracuda 18. The pellets both have a 5.5mm head size but actually, weigh 15.89-grains and 18.13-grains respectively. They show the exact same shape as the FTs.
The precision manufacturing process results in an ultra-smooth roundhead (domed) pellet. They are made in small batches to ensure the variation in weight tolerance between each pellet is not above +/-0.25%.
So, production and testing of these pellets during manufacture before packaging must be one of the most rigorous undertaken for any airgun ammo.
The 15s make an excellent mid-weight pellet, while the 18s will be of great interest and use to those who shoot a FAC rated air rifle.
Also, when you also consider accuracy is tested during batch runs to ensure they maintain a highly concentrated and tight c-t-c grouping ratio, then it’s quite apparent these pellets are well worth investigating.
