Daystate has really expanded its range of high-quality pellets, and the idea is to make it easier for customers, having purchased one of their premium rifles, to locate and test equally high-grade ammunition. Rangemaster Sovereign Hunter pellets are manufactured to Daystate’s specifications in the Czech Republic, and that means a highly popular ammo maker has been signed up, which would account for the consistent performance on offer here. There’s that telltale mix of just the right amount of lead and antimony, meaning these pellets are softer than some rivals, allowing them to mate with the rifling. Close inspection reveals exceptionally precise manufacture, and that parallel-sided body, solid domed head, flared skirt, and flattened-off internal divide, all contribute to the Sovereign Hunter’s distinctive profile. Unsurprisingly, these pellets are heavier than average, but at 10.33-grains in .177, they would be worth trying in a 12 ft/lbs airgun for Field Target Shooting, despite the fact that they are actually designed for guns producing around 18 ft/lbs. Daystate’s reputation for building FAC versions of several of its popular models has created the need for ammunition that can withstand the greater pressures involved, and the Rangemaster Sovereign Hunters are just one of a range of specialist pellets built for the job.
