Buck EdgeTek Bench Stone

The Buck EdgeTek is a 100% diamond coated sharpener. The version featured is a medium 750 grit, with a coarse 325 grit option also available. Protected by a clear plastic lid, the sharpening surface is approximately 6 x 2”, so is large enough to sharpen most edged tools but is small enough to take anywhere.

Although it is described as a bench stone, with four holes in the body to fix it down to a solid surface, the EdgeTek also has finger grooves in the underside of the body so it can be held safely. It is very easy to use and it sharpens a fine blade very quickly. Only light pressure is required on the blade to get very good results and it works particularly well with the addition of water over the sharpening surface. If a hunter wants to put a razor-sharp edge on their knife before field dressing an animal, then a couple of minutes with this stone is all that’s needed.

Although the body is plastic, it is relatively strong and rigid so will stand up to use in the field, although the clear plastic lid might not survive a heavy blow. Overall this is a great portable sharpening tool and, although relatively expensive, it does perform very well so is money well spent.
