Deluxe Universal Knife

When something is described as ‘deluxe’ you may have high expectations, but at just £18.50 are you going to be disappointed?

The Deluxe Universal knife is a fixed blade, fulltang design, supplied with a decent quality leather sheath. The brass bolster incorporates a finger guard and matching pins secure the scales. There is also a brasslined lanyard hole at the rear.

What the handle scales are made of is not specified, but they appear to be a smooth, man-made material with an artificial grained appearance. Whatever the material is, it is very hard and the fit to the tang and the bolster is excellent.

The blade is marked “420 ROSTFREI” (stainless) and the steel is nice and hard. The blade cuts cleanly and after a few minutes of hacking at hardwood, it showed no damage or loss of sharpness. The handle is really comfortable and despite the scales being completely smooth, the shape provides a really good grip.

This knife is a real bargain, with a great handle and a very good blade. Deluxe is open to interpretation, but however you look at it, this knife is of fantastic value and the quality far exceeds the price.
