Helle has a great reputation and is mostly known for handmade, fixed blade knives. However, there are a few folders available and their latest is the Kletten K. Although it’s of the same design as the original, Curly Birch handle Kletten, it uses a very different and ecofriendly handle material.
The knife is manufactured using all the top-quality components that Helle have made their trademark. The 2.2”, clip point blade is made from their own patented, triple laminated stainless steel, which is unique to the company. It consists of a core of high alloy steel, which gives a lasting, razor-sharp edge and is reinforced by two layers of tough (18/8) stainless steel to protect the blade against breakage and corrosion.
The stylish and practical 3.1” handle is made from a stabilised, sustainable wood called Kebony. Developed in Norway, it’s an environmentally friendly, patented process that enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid. The process permanently modifies the wood cell walls, giving Kebony premium hardwood characteristics and a rich brown colour throughout.
The very compact lock liner weighs a mere 3oz, yet feels solid and secure in the hold thanks to the ergonomic, contoured handle design.
The strong blade deploys with a single thumb nick, plus it uses an incredibly secure lock back mechanism, has integral thick stainless-steel liners plus a lanyard hole.
It comes well packaged in a presentation box tube that includes the knife, a cleaning cloth and a lengthy, genuine leather lanyard.
