Fallkniven FH9 Micarta

Regular readers will know how highly I rate Fallkniven knives – in fact I’ve never come across one that I haven’t liked. They are well made, use top quality materials and are totally bereft of gimmicks – they are simply designed to function, and function well.

This FH9 is a compact new folding pocket model that will probably suit UK hunters and outdoorsmen more than some of Fallkniven’s larger fixed blade knives. The 2.75” drop point blade is made of 3G laminated stainless steel, giving a tough outer layer with a central core that will take a razor edge. The handle scales are made of maroon Micarta (with Mother of Pearl available as an option) over a steel liner frame. There’s a strong bolster that looks like it is made of nickel silver, a sprung steel pocket clip and a lined lanyard hole. The blade is locked with a solid back lock mechanism.

When open the folding blade is held as rigid as that on a fixed model. The metal to metal and metal to wood finish is superb. This is a truly high quality knife and is the perfect companion in the field for all manner of tasks. It will certainly punch it’s weight, in fact it may be the only knife that most outdoor sportsmen will ever need – it’s certainly built to last.
