A small folding knife is useful for many tasks, but due to UK knife laws, we are very restricted in what we are allowed to carry in a public place. However, Spanish blade manufacturers Azero have produced a knife specifically for that reason – the very aptly named ‘Azero UK Legal Carry Knife’. Measuring 3¼-inches closed, it holds a 2 3/8-inches long fine edge 14C28 Sandvik steel blade – a metal that has very good edge retention and superb resistance to corrosion.
The knife is deployed using an elongated thumbnick and can actually be heard to ‘click’ audibly when in the fully open position. In fact, it feels so solid when deployed you could easily be fooled into thinking it had a locking mechanism. However, never presume this but these knives really do feel very safe and secure in use, thanks to the very high quality of manufacture and the inclusion of a well-designed and very positive blade spring.
Interestingly, there are three models – the only difference being colour and handle material. For traditionalists, there’s the olive wood option or two colours (white or black) of which the handles are made from a material known as PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate). This is strong and lightweight with an extremely high impact resistance.
Olive wood on the other hand has been used for making knife handles for many years as it’s a very hard, dense wood with a very attractive natural grain pattern and is also very resistant to staining and abrasion.
Each knife is supplied with its own suede pouch, small lanyard cord and a presentation box.
PRICE: £39.95 for any handle choice (including UK recorded delivery)
