Casstrom No.3 Dangler

Casstrom No.3 Dangler

Many folk like to carry their fixed bladed knives lower than at the waist, where most sheaths are designed to ride. This can be for many reasons, such as ease of access if the knife is worn under a jacket, or if you are carrying a rucksack with a deep hip belt, to allow more comfort when you are sitting or even (as in my case) to allow you to get at the sheath without fighting around an ever-larger waist bulge above the belt.

The Casstrom’s No 3 Dangler is an extended belt loop with a sturdy D-ring shaped carabiner. Almost any standard knife sheath (up to 34mm wide) can be clipped in and immediately provides a ‘low ride knife that is easy to remove – when returning to areas where having a visible knife is a no-no – without having to remove your belt, is extra easy to access and more comfortable to wear. The Dangler fits onto belts up to 5cm wide.

The carabiner itself can be used for a variety of other purposes (other than climbing) where its toughness and strength prove useful.

To me this is one of those products that begs the question: why did no-one make one before?
