The Jesper Voxnaes, designed Suru was ‘Knife of the Year 2018’, awarded at the Blade Show in Las Vegas USA. It is a truly stunning design from one of my favourite designers. However, with its locking blade and flipper action it was never going to get wide distribution in the UK. The new laws coming soon to the UK ban the flipper type extension to a folding knife blade. Heinnie Haynes also loved the design of the Suru and approached Fox to see if they could make the wonderful little knife a UK legal carry folding knife. HH have released their exclusive Suru from Fox.
It is just under 90mm closed and has the unmistakable tear drop shaped thumb hole denoting it’s a Vox folder. It can be opened one-handed using the hole but cannot be ‘flipped’ open. The centre bar under the pocket clip on the right scale presses against the blade on rotation creating the slip joint. The sharp blade steel is M390, a Bohler-Uddenholm made top grade modern steel. It is a 60mm long flat ground. The frame has 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 9mm holes drilled through it and is available in two frame finishes. There is a Titanium Sliver frame with either Silver or Blue screws and pocket clip or for ten pounds more a Bronze frame with either Gold or Blue furniture. The HH UK legal Suru has to be on the top of the list anyone looking for an everyday carry knife in our country.
Thanks to Richard and Bruce at Heinnie Haynes for help in production of this article.
