A sturdy lock knife that you rely on is a great tool to have (not in a public place of course!) but knowing that the blade will not fold up on you when using it is very reassuring, especially when the work you are carrying out involves cutting at various angles, often with considerable force.
A fine example of such a knife is the new Gator Premium Sheath Folder from Gerber, an updated version of the original. This US-made product features a razor-sharp, fine-edge, 3.6-inch clip point martensitic CPM-S30V stainless steel folding blade; the glass-filled nylon handle is covered in textured, rubberised Gator Grip® that is secure in the hand, even when wet and the reinforced steel bolsters make for a very strong design. The 3.6-inch clip point blade can be opened one or twohanded using the cut-out in the blade and it stops at around 90-degrees before being fully opened; this makes it very easy and safe to deploy. Once fully open, the blade is held rigidly by the lock on the back of the handle. The knife comes in a sturdy leather pouch that is fastened by a large press-stud and there’s a belt loop incorporated into the design.
This is a very impressive knife, one which will cut anything required and come back for more and like a real Gator, really has some bite!
