Gerber Pursuit Hunting Kit

According to the manufacturer, this kit “is designed to contain a variety of essential hunting tools for the avid outdoors man”. No qualms with that but as it contains the popular Gerber Gator® Kukri™ Machete, Pursuit Sliding Saw, and the Freeman™ Guide Sheath Knife DP FE, it’s one that’ll interest those who often build hidden shooting positions, such as a natural hide.

Kukri Machete

First up is the machete; this is a modern version of the traditional tool of Central Asia, the Kukri Machete. The Kukri has a long history of service around the world, which can be linked to its high functionality, as the multipurpose blade is designed for cutting, chopping, slicing, hacking and more, making it an excellent tool for all aspects of field use.

Its single edged, 12-inch blade is constructed from 1050 stainless steel, which is known for its strength and durability. The blade curves inward near the handle and outwardly curves midway up; this shape allows the blade to be used for a variety of tasks, as well as giving it superior cutting power. Additionally, the full-tang provides a better grip and greater control. This construction also has the benefit of giving a higher level of durability and power transfer in use. The handle is made from Gerber’s popular ‘Gator Grip’, which offers both a stylish look and secure hold through its textured design and material. It also allows for a comfortable purchase, enabling the user to confidently and securely work with the blade. Additionally, it comes with a built-in wrist lanyard, increasing the blades security and is supplied with a Nylon sheath with belt loop and D-ring attachments for multiple carrying options.

Gerber Pursuit Sliding Saw

This has a 6-inch cross-cut, carbon steel saw blade with blunted safety tip; it’s obviously designed for intense work. It has a completely adjustable blade length, allowing the user to resize the tool for the task at hand. The saw handle is constructed from Glass-Filled Nylon, meaning it is incredibly robust, and it also functions as a sheath for the blade whilst not in use. The prominent side rotating locking mechanism is generous sized, making it easy to grip to secure the blade when deployed or retracted.

The Freeman™ Guide DP FE

This sheath knife is a tough and quite versatile fixed blade and is perfect for hunting, camping, etc. The 3.9-inch drop point fine edge blade is constructed from high quality 5Cr15MoV Stainless Steel and its full-tang design ends in a wide, heavyduty pommel with a built-in lanyard ring. The handle section is glass-filled nylon encased in TacHide™ for a superior grip in wet & muddy conditions. The handle features a significant amount of jimping on both side of spine; forward spine jimping for index finger/ thumb stability, lower spin jimping for lower palm stability, moulded finger grooves and underside jimping for grip. The knife also has a prominent sub-hilt for added safety when using the knife, reducing involuntary movement of the hand onto the blade. It also comes supplied with a Ballistic nylon sheath.
